The Howell Public Schools Board of Education has approved placing the renewal and restoration of the district's non-homestead operating millage on the November 3 ballot, WHMI reports.

Drivers heading into Howell from the east have a detour ahead. The Michigan Department of Transportation has closed the Latson Road exit from westbound I-96 for 18 days, WHMI reports.
The exit is expected to reopen to traffic by August 6 at 11:30pm. Until then, plan a little extra time for trips along the corridor, especially during the morning and evening rush.

One of downtown Howell's most loved landmarks is looking for its next chapter. Owner Tyler DePerro is seeking a buyer for the Historic Howell Theater, saying his deepest wish is to hand the keys to an individual or group with the vision and passion to guide the community treasure to its 100th birthday and beyond, WHMI reports.
The two-screen independent movie house at 315 E. Grand River Ave. has anchored downtown since 1928 and was brought back to life with a floor-up renovation when it reopened in 2014. Today it mixes first-run films with classics and community events, with general admission at $8.95 and a coconut oil popcorn that regulars swear by.
